What a Thriving Restaurant Looks Like During COVID-19!

It goes without saying that our current COVID-19 situation is less than ideal. Just a few months ago, our South Florida oasis was flourishing with local restaurants, bars, night clubs, and food trucks. Flash forward to now and many restaurants have had to temporarily close, fire loyal employees and worse; completely shut down business. We may not have seen this coming but, we can react with strategy through this pandemic.

We used to live in a world where Google My Business & Yelp powered our decisions on where to eat. [ Places to eat in Delray ] you may have put in a google search or simply clicked on the restaurant category on Yelp. Unfortunately, GMB listings and Yelp are not accurate. Even if you do have access to your GMB and are actively updating as we do for all of our clients at Simply The Best Magazine & Simply The Best PR, you’ll notice that there is not a box to check off “Closed but open for delivery & takeout”

Here are a few suggestions known to work to ensure your business is thriving during the COVID-19 Crisis

1: Offer 3rd Party Delivery Services

It took less than a week to get on some of South Florida’s favorite Delivery Services like Uber Eats, Delivery Dudes, Door Dash

2: Offer In House Delivery

If you’re doing your best to keep your employees, offer a delivery service. Your employees may not have people to serve inside your dining area, so give them something to do. This is also a GREAT time to clean all those pesky corners that were so hard to do during crazy workdays.

3: Offer Takeout & Curbside Service

COVID-19 may have closed down our dining area’s but that hasn’t changed people from miraculously being able to cook. People will still be hungry and need to feed their families. Offer your food to go or with optional Curbside Drop Off! Create a sign outside your door that states this. Don’t forget to add this information on your Social Media channels and pin it to the top of the page on Facebook.

4: Offer Family Style Meals

Don’t be scared to offer something off your menu! create Family Style Meals and offer an incentive to choose you! Many businesses are thriving with these deals and offering at a fraction of the normal pricing!

5: Talk with your local Influencers

Like I mentioned above, GMB & Yelp are hard to follow right now. GMB has even taken it upon themselves to mark businesses as closed that are in mandated closure areas. Of course, if you’re active with this service, you can manually adjust to open. Many local influencers pages are providing lists of what restaurants are open for Delivery and Takeout, Like LivingFla. We also have a running list you can check out for Delray Beach. Another group to be a part of is The Socially Distanced Supper Club They have about 3500 followers and have a new restaurant to promote every day. Some places get orders well over 200 for that day!

6: Blast Specials on Social Media

Everyone is on Social Media, I checked my screen time the past few weeks and It’s up to about 5-6 hours per day. Granted, I am on my phone for work quite often but I’m normally at 2-3 hours. Use this time to post DAILY! Add lots of pictures, show off your menu, add daily specials, utilize the “Offers” and “Notes” section on your Facebook accounts. This is also a GREAT TIME to Boost posts, create some ads and truly showcase your business.

To recap, it’s important to stand out from your competition. Think outside the box and don’t give up! If you have any additional suggestions, let us know in the comments!

Prima Donna Hair Salon | Color Review

This past weekend I decided to search Groupon for a good deal to get my hair done. I know what you’re thinking, this could have gone HORRIBLY wrong but, as someone who was a licensed cosmetologist in NY, I know that hair grows and can always be fixed (Almost always)

I came across Prima Dona Salon close to where I live in Boynton Beach and I was pleasantly surprised. The ad was for partial highlights and a haircut all for $70.00. At first, I thought, this is too good to be true but, I really needed it done. I was also being impulsive and I wanted an appointment within that day or the next day.

Margarita Frias is the hairstylist and she rents a chair in Hair Divine which was very clean, welcoming, and by looking around had lots of happy clients.

Margarita started off by welcoming me as I walked into the salon and explained she would be with me shortly. You could tell this woman was respected and is passionate about her work by the way she interacted with her clients and other stylists. Once my appointment started, she sat me down and we went over what I wanted. I explained I didn’t want a hair cut and requested some low lights in place of this. Usually, when getting a Groupon, there aren’t any exchanges. You either get what’s on Groupon and anything extra would simply be extra. Margarita was nice enough to honor the same price and I was extremely grateful. As we had the initial conversation about expectations, color tone, etc, she made sure she truly knew what I wanted. I showed her pictures and she reiterated back to me what she saw in the picture to make sure we both were on the same page. Most stylists/colorists would look at the picture and get started.

Margarita wasn’t messy with her color and I love how traditional she was with her placement. This was similar to what I was taught in school and honestly, Florida beauticians scare me the way they highlight. She took her time and went back to back highlight and lowlight. At the end, after she washed, she even added extra color to the part that wasn’t highlighted or lowlighted so everything matched and honestly, I couldn’t tell the difference. The color tone was exactly how I wanted, the size, the placement, and all the while was extremely professional.

When I walked in my hair was a washed-out brassy yellow. I had hot pieces from the last time I had it highlighted and the tone was really off and unnatural looking. Margarita truly made me feel so good about myself after I left. I couldn’t be happier.

After all was said and done, I messaged her thanking her for the beautiful color she created and asked how much it would be the next time I came in. Even after the Groupon her pricing was extremely affordable and I will be seeing her on a regular basis. Thank you again, Margarita, for making me feel good about my hair again!

For anyone who is interested, you can reach her on her cell at 305-494-2441 or email her at Anarquis81@aol.com. If you see her, tell her Angie say’s hi!

Fries To Caviar | Boca Raton’s Not so Hidden Treasure!

Boca Raton’s not so hidden treasure, Fries To Caviar, is recently under new ownership. The Duo, Anthony and Philipp are brothers and run the restaurant together. I have had the chance to meet both of them during my many visits since they have re-opened and I can’t tell you how much I enjoy the dynamic between the two of them. The friendly brotherly banter and friendly tones really make you feel at home.

On a main note, the food at this Boca Raton Restaurant is absolutely amazing. Chef Chad and protege, Julian must be performing magic in the kitchen because everything that comes out is a work of art. This place really does have everything from… Fries to Caviar…

During my first visit, I had the chance to try the empanadas! These were not just ANY empanadas, these were beef empanadas with mashed potatoes and honestly, I didn’t know something like this existed. Anyone who knows me understands my love for both empanadas and potatoes and I was so excited when Phill recommended I try them.

On my second visit, Chad made me a surprise dish and spoiler alert, you’ll find it on the updated menu! Fresh muscles, shrimp, and pasta with a light sauce and bread for dipping. Absolutely delicious. If I were rating this restaurant, and I am, I would give them a 10 out of 10!

On another note, the restaurant has lots of seating. Choose between the dining area, the bar or the beautiful garden in the back. You’ll surely find a place to be comfortable.

If you’re a sweet tooth, you won’t want to forget to order dessert! Choose between, Chocolate Cake, Keylime Cheese Cake, (List Others) Thankfully I was with a big group and we ordered them all to try! Here is what they looked like.

Word on the street is that Chef chad has had an amazing opportunity thanks to his many years of experience and a little help from the owners to open a new restaurant in Vietnam. and Protege, Julian will soon be taking over. The transition has been underway for a few months now and Chad will soon be leaving the kitchen to Julian. Both Anthony and Phillip wish Chad the very best on this new and exciting opportunity and are excited for Julian’s time to shine.

If you want to check out this restaurant, they are open Monday-Sunday from Lunch to dinner. Get there full hours and business information on their website and don’t forget to let them know I sent you! https://friestocaviar.com/

Rose’s Daughter | New Delray Beach Restaurant

When you think of Downtown Delray Restaurants, oftentimes you think of “The Ave” Well, you won’t find this gem on the strip.

Rose’s Daughter, Located at 169 NE 2nd Ave in Delray Beach, Florida is a new rustic romantic restaurant that is a #MustTry.

Last night I had the enjoyment of going out to eat with my boyfriend, his family, and their friends who have been visiting from out of the country and it truly was a hot spot. Just last weekend we tried to get in but, wait times were very long (This was to be expected) If you’re looking to get a table on a Friday or Saturday I definitely recommend making a reservation.

Rose’s Daughter has lovely seating options both inside and outside. No matter where you sat you were able to enjoy a beautiful ambiance, comfortable seating, music, and perfect service.

The menu was very traditional American Italian and there were plenty of yummy options. I ordered the Linguine with Middle Neck Clams and was pleasantly surprised. I’m always a little weary about ordering fish at new restaurants but, I was really craving clams for a while and couldn’t help myself. I’m glad I did because they were delicious!

Here are some other dishes guests at our table ordered.

And another…

One of my favorite parts of this restaurant is everything is made around you. The kitchen & cooks are cooking in the dining room and you can literally see the chef garnishing the dishes. It truly was an interesting sight. This made me enjoy my meal so much more.

Another detail I enjoyed was the bar seating. They had bar seating by the “Kitchen” and by the liquor bar. There was also another beautiful bar on the outside with more seating. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a good picture, I guess you’ll have to find out for yourself 🙂

I would recommend this place for anyone going on a date, going out with family, hosting visitors, or even a girl’s night out. Let me know in the comments how your experience was.

CLOSED-Cena Cucina Italiana | New Delray Beach Restaurant

If you’re looking for an authentic Italian Restaurant, and you’re tired of the same restaurants on Atlantic Avenue, you MUST try Cena Cucina Italiana.

This gem, located at 9 SE 7th Ave, Delray Beach, FL 33483 underwent renovations in September and has new ownership.

The menu has delicious food, specialty cocktails, and dessert options, including a cheesecake made with ricotta cheese. Truly a delight and change from your typical New York-style cheesecake.

Before we had our appetizers, the waiter brought over bread with a delicious spread with olive oil, peppers and something else I can’t quite put my finger on but, I want it again!

We continued to order delicious martinis, and fried calamari and these items DID NOT disappoint! The Specialty Cocktail menu had a wide array of choices and the appetizers were traditional.

The ambiance in the restaurant was really nice. Dim lighting, nice background music, and GREAT STAFF!

My favorite thing about the night was the Main chef came out to see how we liked the food and you don’t really get that at most establishments. It was nice to see the staff care so much about our experience.

Once we were finished with our App, we got to enjoy our main courses. I ordered the Bolognese and my boyfriend who accompanied me ordered the Pollo Parmagiano.

The serving sizes were large and we had enough leftovers for another meal. Spoiler alert, the dishes are just as good the day after!

Lastly, we topped our meal with that delicious Cheese Cake I mentioned before. Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I couldn’t keep our forks down enough to take a picture of what it looked like before we started devouring it.

The overall experience was fantastic, the food was fresh and well-curated, and the owner was a delight along with an attentive staff. I definitely recommend this place to try!

Overall Review: 4.5 Stars!
Atmosphere: 5 Stars
Price: 4 Stars
Variety:3 1/2 Stars
Quality:5 Stars
Hospitality: 5 Stars

Key Points:

Atmosphere: Industrial style restaurant with pleasant lighting, a creative chalkboard wall and welcoming rustic tables! You can tell this place is clean and very well kept!

Price: Quality cocktails call for a little more buck but, worth it! Each cocktail is made with high-quality products that are completely made in house!

Variety: Batch has an amazing variety of handcrafted cocktails but lacks a little in the food department. On the plus size, the food that was on the menu was delicious! Quality over quantity over here and we’re loving it!

Quality: You can tell the owners of Batch pride themselves on the quality of their restaurant. Drinks, food, atmosphere, servers, everything about this place is of high-quality

Hospitality: Rachael is one of our specialists and is currently in the restaurant and bar business and we want to point out her score out of 1-10. She decided on an 11! Our server, EJ was beyond accommodating, helpful, and answered all of our questions immediately and confidently. The owner was nice enough to greet us as we arrived and made us feel extremely welcome! They definitely provided outstanding service!
